Israel’s scale of destruction to schools raises questions on whether this was an "intentional effort to comprehensively destroy the Palestinian education system". -UN experts
In its ongoing war, ‘Israel’ has damaged or completely destroyed all universities and more than 80 percent of all schools in Gaza. They have killed and wounded thousands of students and hundreds of teachers.
Before the war, there were 796 schools in the Gaza Strip, including 442 public schools, 70 private schools and 284 run by Unrwa. There were 12 universities and higher education institutions.
Around 700,000 children and young people were enrolled in schools and universities out of the strip's 2.2 million population before the war.
Thousands of Palestinian students in the Gaza Strip lost their entire school year as Israel’s genocide war on Gaza enters its ninth month, with bombing of schools set to hinder their education for years to come.
