Israel’s Knesset to vote on mandatory death penalty for Palestinian prisoners

The occupation’s National Security Committee, chaired by MK Tzvika Fogel, approved tonight a proposed law imposing the death penalty on Palestinian prisoners (those accused of killing settlers) for its second and third readings. The proposal states: • The death penalty would be mandatory, without the need for unanimity. • Executions would be carried out by hanging, implemented by the prison authority. • The sentence would be carried out in accordance with the law within a specified period of up to 90 days. There would be no possibility of pardon. The bill is set to be presented for a vote in the Knesset next week for its second and third readings.
