Home is homeland. In displacement, we lose roads and walls, but the heart remains tied to memories. We carry little with us, leaving behind our laughter and the scent of our days. We may find shelter, we may find a city—but nothing compares to the feeling of home. Home is not just a place… it is safety; it is the homeland that lives within us. This house caught my attention on one of Gaza’s streets. When I looked closely, I realized it was inhabited… What could have compelled its owner to live in it in such a condition? It is the sense of safety in his homeland—his home.
